There are many types of houses in Khmer village such as Peth house , Kantaing house , Raungdoeung house , and Sala Chan as a small pagoda, which are the main model houses of Khmer people, they make their living by farming, making palm sugar, rice storage, carving, weaving, crafting farm, clay pot making, and fishing.
In ancient times, during the Oudong period, rich families stayed in this old style Khmer construction, called the Millionaire's House. It was made of high quality materials and wood to make a strong foundation for the house. The traditional Khmer wedding ceremonies were also held in this place.
In the Southern Part of Siem Reap Province, you can find the Chong Khneas Village, in Kampong Pluk located along the riverbank of Tonle Sap Lake. The villagers make their living by means of fishing using small boats, others preferred farming in the floating field. Their religion were based in Buddhism, thus before going to work, they pray to the guardian spirit to ask for blessings and good harvests.
Phnorng Villagers live in the Northeast of Mondulkiri Province where a lot of natural resources can be found. Their houses have an oval shape and the roofs were placed / designed near the floor. Their means of living were growing crops in the farm and hunting. Animism was being practiced.
Some Khmer people leave their country to live abroad especially in California, USA. In this place, we exhibit their lifestyles, houses where they live, church and others.
Chinese people have moved to live in Cambodia for more than thousand years ago. Most of them were businessmen dealing with small business, growing crops and vegetables. Through perseverance and good management, they became successful in their businesses. Buddhism is where their religion is being based.
Kroeung people live in the Northeast of Cambodia in Rattanakiri province where there are rich supplies of natural resources. They make their living by hunting, and farming.
Like the Phnorng Villagers, Animism was being practiced by them as well. Their females have the right and freedom to choose whom they are going to get married.
Cham people can be found in almost every place in the country. They are good in fishing and in producing fine blacksmiths. Their religion is based in Islam (Preah Allah).
Kola Villagers live in Pailin located at Battambang Province. The region of Kola was from Myanmar (Burma), in 1876, they came to Cambodia to dig precious stones to be cut and made into beautiful jewelries. However, because of war, they were not able to leave the country, thus the reason for their permanent residency. Buddhism is where their religion is based from.
This place was designed following the Khmer architecture, and is the place for holding performances such as: the Apsara dance, coconut dance, playing drums, acrobats, comedy shows, and multi nationalities dance.
